Clinician Development and Education

Virginia Mason Franciscan Health offers CME programs, Grand Rounds, and other development opportunities throughout the year. These programs, which are offered in person at our facilities and via live streaming online, are designed to promote innovation and enhance the professional development of care teams. Care Network members can extend these professional development opportunities to their providers.

All-Day CME

All-Day CME courses are typically held on Fridays, except during holidays. These day-long educational events include Virginia Mason Franciscan Health faculty and invited experts from across the country.

Check our website (VirginiaMasonCME.org) for a schedule of upcoming courses and additional program information. Registration is required 24 hours before the course begins, and, once registered, participants are eligible to receive reminders of upcoming CME courses via email.

Participants sign up for the desired course and pay the applicable fee for the course type and accreditation level. From our website, participants can view the All-Day CME schedule and access their transcript.

Grand Rounds

Instituted in 1952, Grand Rounds at Virginia Mason Medical Center is an accredited, one-hour, regularly-scheduled series of interactive weekly lectures offering diverse medical topics presented by Virginia Mason Franciscan Health physicians and invited medical experts.

Topics presented at Virginia Mason Grand Rounds are designed to address the educational needs of primary care, internal medicine, medical and surgical specialists, and other members of your health care team. Grand Rounds are a community service offered free of charge. Lectures are live streamed, offering staff the convenience of participating in Grand Rounds from their hospital campus or office.

Registration in the annual series is required to earn continuing education credit when participating in the series. Participants can register at Virginia Mason CME, and once enrolled, are eligible to receive weekly reminders of the upcoming session with details and a meeting link. From our website, participants can view a Grand Rounds schedule, access their transcript, and browse additional information.

Grand Rounds are presented each Friday from 7:30 a.m. – 8:30 a.m. PT, except during holidays and the month of August.
