Peer-to-Peer Guidance
Our peer-to-peer guidance is an asynchronous remote service that compliments members’ in-person and virtual care through increased care coordination and access to specialty care.
Utilizing a simple online portal, members can request and receive a specialist’s opinion about a case, reducing travel burden and unnecessary referrals.
Workflow
- A member’s requesting physician or their staff accesses the online portal to submit a request for peer to peer case review and generates what is called a case card.
- Information submitted may include the specialty, required patient information, relevant medical information, and additional comments, including the reason for requesting peer guidance.
- Our coordinator reviews the case card and assigns the case to the appropriate reviewing physician.
- The member’s reviewing physician is notified via email and, using the online portal, approves, accepts, and reviews the case.
- The reviewing physician creates an opinion, summary, and follow-up notes in the portal, and the submitter is notified.
